What happens today

  1. The foreman writes it on paper at the end of a 12-hour shift.
  2. The office types it into a spreadsheet, then calls him back because a line is blank. He has gone home, so the question waits until tomorrow.
  3. Someone lines up the daily, the timesheet and the cost sheet, person by person. 8 plus 1.5 plus 1 plus 1.5, make sure it hits 12.
  4. The same numbers get keyed into payroll and the invoice.
  5. Every retype is a chance to drop an hour you worked.

What happens with Big Dog

  1. Sent. The crew sends the daily the way they already do. A voice note, a photo of the paper sheet, a text.
  2. Checked.Big Dog reads it and asks back that night, while he still remembers. "How many hours on the 336 for the ditch work?" "3.5." Done.
  3. Matched. The daily, the timesheet and the cost sheet come from that one entry, so they agree. No more "make sure it hits 12" by hand.
  4. Billed. The hours land on the invoice draft. Click any billed hour and see the daily it came from.
  5. Known.By morning you see it: what got done, what it earned, and what needs you.

See which step is slow, who it is waiting on, and what it is holding.

What changes

  • Supervisors stop retyping and start checking.
  • Questions get asked the same night, while the crew still remembers.
  • Every billed hour links back to the daily it came from, so disputes end fast.
  • Your numbers are a morning old, not a day or a week.

The return

Get your supervisors back on the job.

Up to 20 hours a week of their time goes to paperwork. Put in your own crew size and see what your reporting chain costs you every week, in hours and in dollars.

Work out your number Reporting Chain Cost tool. Every equation cited.
  • 20hA week, per supervisor, can go to retyping the daily into the timesheet, the cost sheet and the invoice.
  • 4,871Emails read and sorted by Big Dog in our own companies.
  • ~860hOf work done in that same count. Estimated from minutes per task.

The questions crews and supervisors ask first.

Big Dog

Our crews will not use a new app.

They do not have to. A voice note, a photo of the paper sheet or a text, same as now.

Do crew messages go anywhere else?

Yes, and we say it plainly. WhatsApp messages pass through Meta and the messaging provider on the way in. Once they land, they live in your account.

Big Dog

We already have software for that.

We do not replace it. We connect to it so nobody types the same number twice. If a tool you own already covers the job, the audit says so.

Is this replacing my people?

No. Your people stop retyping and start checking. They get their time back for work that needs judgment. Nobody gets cut.
